Explosion at natural gas facility kills 1 worker, injures 2 others
LA PLATA COUNTY, Colo. — One worker was killed and two others seriously injured in an explosion Monday at a methane compression station in southwestern Colorado.
The Durango Herald reports the explosion happened at the Pinon Compression Station at about 8:15 a.m. five miles east of Elmore’s Corner on U.S. Highway 160.
BP owns the compression station which is where natural gas is gathered to be put in a pipeline.
There was no fire at the facility following the explosion. The cause was under investigation.
