ESTES PARK, Colo. — The 27.3-acre fire that burned 22 homes and two outbuildings in Estes Park is now being called an electrical fire by the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office.

“The fire was most likely caused by an electrical service line rubbing against a pine tree during turbulent winds,” Public Information Officer Jim Toorney wrote in a press release.

Toorney continued to say that investigators “do not believe the fire to be criminal in nature nor the result of a criminal act.”

The fire  is now 100-percent contained, and residents were allowed to return at noon Monday.
