Tulo to have surgery on injured groin

PHILADELPHIA — Troy Tulowitzki will have surgery on his left groin area in Philadelphia on Thursday, the club announced on Wednesday afternoon. The timetable for Tulowitzki’s return is unclear and the Rockies said more will be known after the surgery, which will be performed by Dr. William Meyers.
The injury, which occurred on May 30, has not been classified as a sports hernia. Tulowitzki underwent tests earlier this week with Meyers, a noted sports hernia specialist.
“There’s some scar tissue that is built up over a nerve,” Rockies manager Jim Tracy said. “We’re very hopeful they’re going to successfully relieve that and get us beyond these problems and situations we’ve been dealing with over the course of the last year or so.” MORE>>>
