Man shoots self while trying to holster weapon
GALETON, Colo. — A Weld County man was recovering from injuries and reportedly in stable condition Wednesday night after shooting himself trying to holster his weapon.
Wayne Harrison, 71, of Greeley was at a gun club on Weld County Road 51 when he accidentally shot himself in the stomach with one round from a .357 caliber revolver around 4 p.m. Wednesday afternoon.
Harrison was transported by helicopter to North Colorado Medical Center, but was alert and responding to deputies at the time, according to a press released issued by the Weld County Sheriff’s Office.
