LONGMONT, Colo. – Several Longmont residents were displaced following an apartment fire that police say was intentionally set.

According to investigators, Matthew Bishop set fire to an apartment in which he was a guest.

Police say Bishop first set fire to a quilt in the bathroom. The woman he was staying with put out the flames as firefighters made their way to the apartment at fifth and Atwood Street.

A neighbor spotted Bishop return to the apartment with charcoal fuel and then re-light the fire.

The fire displaced three other families from their apartments because of heavy smoke damage.

Bishop faces felonies including first-degree arson.
