Helpful horse at High Park Fire
LARIMER COUNTY — With the fire now at 10 percent containment as of Wednesday morning and crews optimistic about turning the blaze away from populated areas, the news from the High Park Fire front took a turn to the lighter side.
Fire crews have ferried most of the threatened animals to the Budweiser Events Center in Loveland. But apparently this horse wasn’t too keen on being pulled away from the action.
The Boulder Fire Department’s wild land crew sent this photo, taken during one of their Wednesday morning patrols. The horse shown, whose owners have not yet been identified, walked right up to their fire engine.
“This horse would have been transported to one of the large-animal centers designated for the High Park Fire,” Kim Kobel, Public Information Officer for the Boulder Police Department, said. “It’s not often a ‘rescue’ walks right up to one of our trucks.”
