Humane society needs financial donations for High Park Fire evacuees

LARIMER COUNTY, Colo. — On one side of the Larimer County fairgrounds, evacuees wait patiently for the next update on their homes.  About a football field away, many of their animals are now being housed in the livestock pavilions.

Kevin Bell and his wife are watching over close to 150 alpacas that were displaced from a ranch near the town of Bellvue.  In fact, one of the alpaca’s just gave birth in one of the stalls.

“We have five that are expecting,” says Bell.

The alpacas are owned by bell’s sister’s family.

“We have volunteered to do maternity watch for them,” he says.

In addition to the alpacas, there are a number of horses, llamas, even two donkeys.  The livestock pavilions parking lot is slowly filling up with trucks and trailers.

The Larimer County Humane Society says they are in need of financial donations.  If you would like to donate, visit www.larimerhumane.org.
