Explore Colorado: Royal Gorge
Jennifer Broome gets the first ride on the new zip line at the Royal Gorge.
Three hundred thousand people visit the Royal Gorge each year. Summer is peak season and this summer there’s a new way to see the Royal Gorge. The highest zip line in the world just opened. You soar 1,122 feet above the Arkansas River as you ride the 700 foot zip line out and back for a total of 1,400 feet!
If that’s not extreme enough for you then try the scariest skycoaster in the world. You are raise 100 feet in the air. When you pull the cord, you fly at 50 mph 60 feet out into the Royal Gorge. At the highest point you are about 1300 feet above the Arkansas River.
Plus don’t miss the white buffalos that are close to the skycoaster.
Summer rates are $24 for adults, $18 for children, and $20 for seniors. There is an additional charge for the Soaring Eagle Zip Line and Royal Rush Skycoaster. They do offer a High Altitude Ride Package for $60 that includes admission and both rides.
