STERLING, Colo. – A Sterling woman who admitted to killing her three-month-old son was sentenced to 32 years in prison on Tuesday.

In April, Juanita Kinzie, 24, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and child abuse resulting in death in the death of her son, Caleb Pacheco.

Caleb’s body was found wrapped in plastic and blankets under a mobile home Kinzie once lived in with her ex-boyfriend.

“It’s been a heck of a life that I’ve lived,” Kinzie told the judge. “Drugs and alcohol and neglect and abuse don’t excuse anything that I’ve done to my son.”

Kinzie won’t be eligible for parole for 24 years.
