Man accidentally shoots self at Boulder County camp site

ALLENSPARK, Colo. — A Thornton man was killed early Monday morning when he shot himself in the face at a campground northwest of Boulder, authorities tell The Denver Post.

The shooting happened at about 1:15 a.m. at the Olive Ridge campground.

Friends tell the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office the shooting was accidental. The man’s name was not immediately released pending notification of family members.

Authorities are interviewing other campers and the man’s friends to determine what happened, The Post reports.
