AURORA, Colo. – A teenage girl was hospitalized after a car-to-car shooting near Del Mar Park in Aurora Thursday evening.

The shooting was reported at about 8:20 p.m.

“A vehicle driven by a juvenile female with two occupants inside was driving north on Peoria (Street),” said Aurora Police Sgt. Cassidee Carlson. “As the vehicle approached Del Mar Circle, a vehicle that was also traveling northbound pulled up next to them (and) shots were fired.”

The victim was alert and conscious when police arrived. Carlson said she sustained a single, non-life threatening gunshot wound.

Neither of the passengers in her car was wounded.

Carlson said the suspects fled the scene in a sedan, possibly a Toyota Camry, gold or brown in color.

The passenger in the suspect vehicle is described only as a light-skinned black male, possibly with dreadlocks.

“At this point, investigators do not know if the people inside both vehicles knew each other,” said Carlson.
