BOULDER, Colo. – A 15-ton rock fell from a jagged cliff onto Highway 119 west of Boulder Monday, causing significant road delays.

No one was hurt in the rock slide, which occurred at about 11 a.m. near Boulder Falls, according to Colorado Department of Transportation spokeswoman Stacey Stegman.

The road also sustained damage.

The westbound lane of the highway was closed to traffic for much of the afternoon as CDOT removed the boulder.

CDOT plans to intermittently close both directions of Boulder Canyon Dr. between 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m Tuesday for rock mitigation work.
