Rockies open series against Dodgers with 6-2 win

DENVER — Rockies starting pitcher Juan Nicasio left Monday’s game in the seventh inning to a standing ovation, and seat-of-the-pants relief pitching kept a crowd of 25,227 at Coors Field on its feet.

The Rockies led by three runs, but the Dodgers had the bases loaded with no outs, and their most dangerous hitters poised. However, relievers Esmil Rogers, Rex Brothers and Edgmer Escalona faced them down, and the Rockies held on for a 6-2 victory in the opener of a three-game set.
