Lakewood Police are reviewing about 200 child-victim cases after a lead detective resigned amidst a probe.

Last year, former detective Justin Loburgio became the focus of an internal affairs probe for failing to properly investigate complaints.

Loburgio worked in the department’s Crimes against Children Unit.

The cases under review range from fall 2006 to Dec. 2010.

“Frankly, the bottom line is:  we had an employee that wasn’t performing on a level that was expected of him,” says Steve Davis, spokesperson for the Lakewood Police Department.

Davis says residents who have concerns about investigations that fall within the time frame should call the department.

Loburgio resigned in January.  No criminal charges are expected.
