Strange Manning, Elway, Broncos, Colts connections

DENVER — An article posted on this website yesterday indicated that John Elway had previously been responsible for the Broncos acquiring a quarterback with superior skills – in this case it was Elway himself – at the expense of the Colts.
But there appears to be several other unusual connections regarding the Elway/Manning Broncos/Colts situation.
Manning became available because he was released from the Colts since their assumed selection in this year’s NFL draft is Andrew Luck, who will be the first pick overall – just as John Elway was in 1983. Luck was the quarterback for Stanford – just as John Elway had been when he was originally drafted by the Colts.
Jim Harbaugh was Luck’s coach at Stanford but was previously the quarterback for the Indianapolis Colts until he was replaced by – Peyton Manning.
