Broncos looking to trade Tim Tebow; Tebow fans angry
DENVER – Peyton Manning’s arrival in Denver will likely mean the departure of Tim Tebow.
Numerous sources say the Broncos will attempt to trade the third year quarterback rather than keep him as a backup once Manning is under contract.
“The Jacksonville Jaguars have been mentioned as a possible landing spot for Tebow, who rose to fame as a star with the Florida Gators in college,” writes Albert Breer of the NFL Network. “Jaguars owner Shad Khan has mentioned that he would have been interested in Tebow if he had been in charge of the team when the quarterback entered the league.”
Tebow has become a Broncos fan favorite for engineering incredible come-from-behind victories and leading Denver from a 1-4 record last season, to their first playoff win in six years.
But despite that success, Tebow’s poor completion percentage (47.3%) and unorthodox style will undoubtedly impact his trade value.
“He’s not going to be your starting quarterback,” says ESPN analyst and former NFL defensive end Hugh Douglas, who sees little trade value in Tebow. “He is not ready to play quarterback in the NFL.”
Meanwhile, Tebow backers have taken to social media to express disappointment.
“I heard Manning wanted to be on a team where it was warm and sunny. The good Lord will listen to Tebow’s prayers and Manning will most likely be playing in the worst winter weather that Denver has seen in a long time,” said FOX31 Denver Facebook fan Mary Gonzalez.
“I wish Tebow luck & success wherever he goes! He’ll prove his abilities and we’ll be crying in our soup!,” said Nora Sanculi.
“If Tebow goes, I go, I am no longer a fan. They get rid of all the good players, I’m done. For once they have a guy everyone can look up to and admire, guess he should get arrested, then he would fit in,” Laura Seda wrote.
“Wow what to do with the Tebow Jerseys Please Keep Him!!,” writes Belinda Tournour.
“The Broncos would be stupid to trade Tim Tebow, Tebow has so much potential and a great chance to learn from both Manning and Elway,” said Bonnie Ferguson.
“Nooooo, if that happens I will no longer be a Bronco fan!,” laments Rocia Ramos.
