DENVER -- The 2100 block and the alley between Josephine and University is popular with female students because it’s a shortcut from the University of Denver to sorority row.

"From what the cops said she was able to struggle and fight him off and scared him away," said Tim Otto.

Police came to his door on Wednesday in the hours after the woman was attacked. "(They were) just seeing if anyone had seen or heard anything because it happened around 1:45 a.m."

Police told Otto about a violent attack outside his bedroom window where a man snuck up on a woman, pushed her to the ground, and then tried to take his clothes off.

"It`s the same thing that`s been going on for 6 or 7 months," said Otto.

This is the fifth such attempted sexual assault near the University of Denver campus since October.

Police and the University have been proactive notifying students and releasing a sketch of the man. Still, students can't believe they are being targeted.

“It`s always a little unsettling when something like that happens especially when it`s that close to your house,” said one student.

Some neighbors say they're frightened because police tell them they this is the same man and he appears to be getting more violent.

“They said in all actuality it probably is because it`s been going on and the odds of having two people like that are pretty slim.
