Frankenburger: Test-tube hamburger to be unveiled in October
Scientists plan to unveil test-tube hamburger in October. The announcement inspired Next Media Animation to create an animated clip demonstrating how it works.
Maastricht University professor Mark Post hopes to have the world’s first “test-tube” burger ready for October and wants celebrity chef Heston Blumenthal to cook it.
Post, head of physiology at the university in the Netherlands, has spent the past six years working on turning stem cells into meat.
For this process, he would place stem cells from a cow in a petri dish where they would multiply. The resulting “muscle” would then be flexed to make it bigger and stronger. Then it would be mixed with lab-create animal fat and molded into a hamburger patty.
