Physical Education teacher accused of having sex with student
BASALT, Colo. – A physical education teacher at Basalt High School faces felony charges for allegedly having sex with a 17-year-old male student.
Lauren Redfern, 25, of El Jebel, Colorado is charged with sexual assault on a child by a person in a position of trust.
She was booked into the Eagle County Detention Facility Thursday morning.
According to the Eagle County Sheriff’s Office, investigators received a report of an “unlawful sexual act” involving Redfern and the student.
“The sexual acts between Redfern and the student are believed to have taken place over the duration of approximately 4 months,” the Sheriff’s Office said in a press release. “These sexual encounters took place at the residence of both Redfern and the victim in El Jebel.”
Redfern will remain in jail pending her first court appearance.
